Ladies and Gents, it’s that time again…a PPC Hero Readership Survey! Two years ago, we asked for your help in determining our readers’ demographics, and in this fast-paced industry, we are well overdue for an update. Our goal is two-fold: first, we would like to learn specific details about our readers for us to continually write relevant content on the blog, and secondly we would like to collect, process, and share this important data with the pay-per-click industry at large.

As an incentive for your participation, we’re offering five $25 Amazon gift cards. Please take a few minutes prior to December 20th to share a little bit about yourself and how you fit into the PPC industry. Once we have collected and processed your responses, we will share all of this data on the blog! If you’d like a shot at winning a gift card, be sure to fill in the last box of the survey which asks for your email. If you’re a lucky winner, the PPC Hero team will email your prize before the holidays!

Thanks for your participation!

Last week, we posted a survey asking you for your feedback on AdWords bidding options. We asked our readers what bidding options they currently use in AdWords and which one they find the most beneficial. Over 100 people responded to our survey! Check out the results below.

The majority of people are using manual bidding for clicks in their accounts. Less people overall are using any automatic bidding options in Google and only 11.8% use CPM bidding in Display campaigns. When asked which bidding option was the most successful, Manual bidding was again the winner.

We also got some great comments about bidding options which you can check out here. I’ve personally tested all of the bidding options in my accounts except for CPM bidding as none of my clients are focused on branding. What I’ve found is that different options work better in different situations, but I still prefer manual bidding most of the time. I guess I’m just not comfortable yet giving all the control over to Google.

Tomorrow I’m going to share my experiences with these bidding options and which ones succeeded/failed in different accounts and campaigns so be sure to check back! Thanks to everyone who participated and feel free to leave more comments about AdWords bidding strategies below.

I know certain situations where I prefer one over another, but wanted to get some feedback from you guys on which bidding options you are using. Below is a short survey about the different bidding options and please feel free to elaborate on your experiences in the comments section. The results will be published next week along with a post about using the bidding options in my accounts. Thanks!

Last month we ran a series on How to Succeed on the Display Network. Since everyone’s experiences are different, we asked our readers to provide their feedback about their experiences. We asked three questions:

Which Display Network targeting options are you running in your PPC accounts?

What are the top 3 Display Network targeting options where you’ve seen the most success?

What is the first targeting option a PPC manager should select when beginning to advertise on the Display Network?

Below are the results of the survey. If you are new to the Display Network, or haven’t tried all of the different targeting options, check out our reader responses to see where they have found success.

Most of our readers are running Automatic placements, Managed placements and Remarketing campaigns. Fewer have tried the Interest and Topics Targeting and DCO options. If you are just starting out on the Display network, or you have a limited budget, I would recommend starting with a Contextually targeted campaign and a Remarketing campaign. I have seen the best returns with these targeting options as have our readers.

Do you agree or disagree with these results? Let us know below!

Last month we ran a series on alternative methods of PPC advertisement and ended the week with a survey asking for your feedback. Well the results are in and we’ve compiled all of your answers to see which alternative advertising networks have brought you the most success. Check out the results below:

Of all the respondents, 60% have had success on another advertising network while 21% have not. Just 18% of have never tried advertising on another network. Just two years ago 31% of PPC managers had never tried an alternative network so it seems that PPC managers are starting to expand their advertising beyond the big 3.

Of the advertising networks we listed, some people had found success on each of them. When asked to select which one was the most successful, 7Search came out on top with 36% of the vote. We also had a lot of respondents select a network other than the 8 we listed. If you’ve found success on another network please post below so we can share it with all our readers.

Thanks so much to everyone who participated in our survey. We enjoy getting feedback from our readers and discovering how they find success in the every changing PPC industry.

Two weeks ago we asked you, our loyal PPC Hero readers, to give us your thoughts on what really affects quality score. We had a great response from all over the world:

Our participants had varying level of PPC experience from just 1 year to 7 years! The survey included a list of 11 potential quality score factors and we had you rank the importance of each factor on a scale from 1 – not important to 4 – very important. Below are the results (click to enlarge).

Ranked at the top of the list was keyword click-through rate. If you want to boost quality score of our keywords this is definitely the first area to focus on. If you want to know more about Quality Score come back tomorrow for the release of PPC Hero’s updated quality score guide. You may be surprised about what can truly influence the Quality Score of your keywords.

As promised, we also selected a respondent at random to win a 3-month Foodzie subscription and the winner is… Jeff Allen! Congratulations Jeff and thank you so much to all of our participants. We always appreciate feedback from our readers.

Do you agree with the results? Are there any factors not included that you think influence Quality Score? If so, please post a comment below.

PPC Hero conducted a similar survey back in 2007, the same year we released our Google Quality Score Handbook. Well a lot has changed in the last 4 years, so we want to gauge how opinions have changed as to what really affects Quality Score. In a few weeks we’ll also be releasing an updated guide to AdWords Quality Score with new information about the elusive number.

Complete the survey below to share your thoughts on Quality Score factors and you’ll be entered to win a 3-month Foodzie Tasting Box subscription! You have until the EOD July 22 to submit your answers. The winner will be chosen at random from the list of entrants. Good luck and thanks for sharing your thoughts!

PPC Hero Readers – We need your help! In a continuous effort to improve our blog we’d liked to update our Readership Stats. We’ve created a short survey that we’d love for you to help us with. Our goal is two-fold: first off, we would like to learn specific details about our readers which will help to write tailor-made content for the blog, and secondly we would like to collect, process and share this important data with the pay-per-click industry at large.

As an incentive for your participation, we’re offering the chance to win a landing page review from our PPC Hero Team. Please take a few minutes to share a little bit about yourself and how you fit into the PPC industry. Once we have collected and processed your responses, we will share all of this data on the blog! If you’d like a shot at winning the review, be sure to fill in the last box of the survey which asks for your email. If you’re the lucky winner, the PPC Hero team will provide an analysis of the well-formatted elements of your landing page, as well as some ideas which could be tested to continually improve PPC conversion rates.

Thanks for your participation!

This is your last chance to share a little about yourself and help us out on our eternal quest for PPC knowledge. I promise the survey is painless and will only take you a few short minutes! Thanks in advance.
