Display & Destination URLs: Make sure they are fraternal twins

May 15th, 2007 | | Ad Texts, Yahoo! Search Marketing

We’ve recently been asked a question regarding ad URLs: “Hi, I’ve been using Google Adwords and MSN Adcenter for a while and have decided to have a look at yahoos PPC offering, now all seems ok, except it doesn’t seem to support a display URL/destination URL differentiation. Is this possible in Yahoo PPC? And how do I go about it. Basically I want my display url to be my main sites url (www.example.com) and I want the destination to be …

April 29th, 2007 | | Yahoo! Search Marketing

Even though we have been managing accounts within Panama for the last five months, we are still acclimating to Yahoo!’s new interface – as I’m certain most online marketers are still trying to gain their bearings as well. Recently we released our handbook, Welcome to the Panama Jungle: a user’s guide to Yahoo!’s new interface, where we talk about the ins and outs of Panama. However, I’m going to discuss four ways you can easily enhance your performance (that are …

Setting Up an International Yahoo! PPC Campaign

April 23rd, 2007 | | Yahoo! Search Marketing

The advent of Yahoo!’s new Panama interface has been a great improvement over its predecessor. However, one piece Yahoo! chose not to include was access to their international network via a single account (much like Google does). As such, we advertisers must then seek out these foreign Yahoo! search engines and progress from there. A few days ago, after considerable research and consternation, I set up an account with Yahoo! UK for one of my clients.

The client in question already …

Light Sabers at the Ready! The “Empire” Is On the Move.

April 2nd, 2007 | | Google AdWords, Yahoo! Search Marketing

In the world of search, the primary competitors are Google and Yahoo!, and no matter what the situation is, one is always trying to out-do the other. The most recent resurgence of this on-going power struggle is Google’s retaliation to Yahoo!’s third-party import tool. As part of the roll out of the Panama interface, Yahoo! included the option for advertisers to take existing campaigns (namely Google Ad Words campaigns) and push them in–no questions asked. At the onset, …

It Ain’t Easy, but You Can Move Keywords in Panama

March 27th, 2007 | | Yahoo! Search Marketing

Of all the great strides that Yahoo! has made in simplifying keyword management, they missed a big step in the process with Panama: They took away the ability to move keywords with historical data. Within the Panama interface, it is impossible to move a keyword from one ad group to another without deleting the keyword and reinserting it in a new location. Various calls by our staff to Yahoo!’s support have covered this topic.

One possible solution

Panama Is Coming Again!

March 23rd, 2007 | | Yahoo! Search Marketing

I don’t know if any other international PPC agencies, or individuals, have received their notification, but we received our first one this morning: Yahoo’!’s Panama is coming to the UK! The migration letter is the same one distributed to US advertisers (aside from being slightly anglicized) so there aren’t any new developments regarding the migration process. Finally, the USA has an export of epic proportions to volley back at those Brits… of course, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, …
