ell maybe something like SEMRush is the tool for you. Enter a domain and it will give you the domain’s approximate search budget along with targeted key phrases.

It’s invaluable information when scoping out competitors.

@ Egliptor,

You're right. Whenever you have certain ad groups that are far and away your best performers - it is a good strategy to separate them into their own ad groups for budgetary reasons. As you said, this gives them adequate "wiggle room" to perform at their best! Thanks for commenting!

@ Ken,

Sometimes we'll use Excel to concatenate or to organize our keyword lists. Other times we use tools available to us from the search engines (both AdWords Editor and adCenter Desktop have features to expand and manage expansive keyword lists). Word is out of the question. Way, way too messy. I mentioned it in my post because I like to create visual maps for my account's structure. SmartArt is a great way to piece together the 10,000 foot view visually before diving into the granular keywords (there are other options available, but I like SmartArt!) I'll have to give Wordstream a trial run - maybe it'll be part of "PPC Time Savers part Duex." : ) Thanks for commenting!

Nice Post, John.

Liked and tweeted it here @WordStream.

Just curious, do you manually segment your keywords into groups using Word or Excel?

If so, I just wanted to point out that there's a better way. Our keyword management tool, WordStream, allows you to group thousands of keywords with just a few clicks.

If you're interested, you should check it out.

It's a real time saver.

Cheers!

Top quality post, I would also recommend within your account structure to have all your diamond performing adgroups within a top tier campaign then to accelerate the spend. This will give your top performers a chance to try and out perform themselves without being affected by not so well performing adgroups.

Thanks PPC Hero, keep up the solid advice!
