Thanks Jon! Yes, understanding the goals of the overall account is crucial to a successful optimization. That is why I told my Yahoo rep that I was looking to increase traffic, I had a target CPC and I also mentioned that the campaign's focus is brand awareness, but we are tracking conversions as well.

As far as ad text copy is concerned: this is your first impression with a potential customer. It HAS to be good! I did gleam some insight from Yahoo's take on my ad copy but they were all poorly executed.

Best of luck with the optimizations (once you receive them from Yahoo). If you get them back and have any questions, let us know!

Great post! I have been approached by Yahoo! offering to 'optimize' some of my numerous campaigns within the past week. Ironically they all fall under the category of "not meeting your daily spend". I have yet to get a proposal back (they said to allow 5-7 days) but I will be sure to watch out for the items noted above!

One thing I thought was interesting was there was no attempt to understand the goals of the campaign or even the business they were involved in. I would imagine that would be helpful to, at minimum, write the ad copy, no?
