Have you ever spent hours trying to re-structure your Google campaign to upload into Yahoo!? You download your Google campaign, re-arrange the columns to fit Yahoos! upload structure, only to get errors from Yahoo! saying they can’t determine which is the parent ad group? I’ve encountered this many times, and just recently I found a tool in Yahoo! to help with this problem. It’s the ‘Convert Third Party Campaigns’ tool under the import feature of the Yahoo! interface.
What the Tool Does: The tool takes your Google csv file and converts it into the correct format in order to upload it into Yahoo.
Where to Access the Tool: Click on the Campaigns tab in your Yahoo! account, then click on the import feature under the tabs. Next to the Import Campaigns tab, click on the Convert Third Party Campaigns tab.
How to Convert Your Google Campaigns using the Yahoo! Tool:
1. If you haven’t already, download adwords editor in order to export a campaign out of Google. Make sure you export your Google campaign into a .csv file.
2. Then, go to the convert third party campaigns tab in your Yahoo account and upload your Google .csv file, give it a name, and click convert.
It only takes a few minutes for Yahoo to convert the file. Once your file is converted, it will show up in the converted campaigns history section.
3. Then, all you have to do is navigate back to the import campaigns tab in your Yahoo account, and upload the new csv file as you normally would.
It’s a great tool for quick use of uploading a Google campaign into Yahoo! But you can also import your entire Google account into Yahoo in the same way.

Ahh if only things worked like their instructional manual says they do!
I spent ages trying to convert campaigns on Yahoo, (which I have almost given up on, I am giving them another year to fix themselves but with their recent brain drain, its gonna be hard!)
My campaigns are always converted by yahoo in 5-20 minutes, but are never totally ready for the final import. That comes from a few factors such as Yahoo not being able to handle certain match types etc… furthermore, yahoo needs more information for each keyword than Google (sponsored search bid, content match and many others) since your Google campaign does not need this, information, Yahoo requires you to enter it manually, which can be hard when you got 500 000 keywords …
I use this tool, but alwas find that it will do maybe 45% of the work, and then require me to the rest manually.

The only problem is that YSM sometimes doesn’t recognize negative keywords!! So you might need to remove them and then add them again manually! The same applies for Dynamic Keyword Insertion!

This is a really helpful post, especially since it’s such a pain in the *expletive deleted* to easily create campaigns in Yahoo! I don’t know if it’s just my internet connection, but if I took a stop watch and timed myself making the same campaign in Google and Yahoo!, it wouldn’t even be close. Yahoo! pages take between 5-10 seconds to generate for me on every reload. Anybody else have this?

Informative Post. I just wish MSN can copy a few tips from Google and Yahoo would be a little more “excel friendly”. My biggest wishlist is a software program where you can utilize the Adwords Editor for all engines.

Hi Michael, your internet connection may be a little slow…Yahoo takes longer to load for me than Google, but it doesn’t take 5-10 seconds to load. Thanks for the feedback!!

Well, this tip would be EXCELLENT except that i have no import link below my tabs. I have Campaigns, Ad Groups, Keywords, Editorial Status, and Search.
If you know where this link has been moved to, I will definitely use it to import my Google PPC campaigns into Yahoo.

Hi Daniel, when you first open a new yahoo account, for some strange reason they don’t include the import feature until your account is open for a while. All you have to do is contact your yahoo rep and ask them to add the import feature for you.

I spoke to Yahoo the other day and they told me that they only give users that spend $5,000 within a three month period that import option.
That’s crazy!
Can anyone comment on this?

Yahoo company is very greedy. The more you pay, the more your ad will show and be at the top. Thats it. Thats why i hate it….
