It’s hard to believe, but today is our 10th anniversary! 10 years ago today, John Lee wrote our first ever post, introducing everyone to “PPC Hero, the one-stop blog for all things pay-per-click!” In this post, we laid out our goal:

To educate the world on the basic techniques and finer skills of successful pay-per-click campaign management.

We’ve changed our design over the years, and our hero has grown up, but that goal has always remained the same. We are dedicated to providing top-notch content on a daily basis in order to give you the tips, tools, and initiatives to run your own successful PPC campaigns.

A Look-Back

So, what was PPC life like back in 2007? The short answer, a lot simpler. Here is just a small list of features that weren’t around 10 years ago:

  • Ad extensions
  • Remarketing
  • Modified broad match type
  • Bing Ads (at the time it was MSN adCenter)

In fact, many accounts weren’t even tracking conversions. Though you could track conversions, many companies looked at clicks and impressions when determining campaign success. We’ve come a long way since then!

When we started back in 2007, PPC Hero actually had a sidekick, SEO Boy.

SEO Boy has since retired from the superhero industry, leaving PPC Hero to fight the good fight against poor performing PPC accounts.
