Our Greatest Hits for April 2009!

May 4th, 2009 | Carrie | Greatest Hits

The page views have spoken! Below we have gathered PPC Hero’s four most visited, and hopefully most valuable, articles from April. Whether you’re a new or long-time subscriber you may have missed these insightful and helpful pay-per-click management tips. Enjoy!

  • April was a month of new discoveries for the PPC Hero team. One of the most exciting for us, and our readers, was AdWords addition of the Query Depth search function within the Search Query Report. While this functionality is has not been rolled out to all accounts, it is a promising signal that the days of countless “other unique queries” are behind us. Amen to that!
  • The PPC Hero team is a huge fan of the new AdWords interface. We signed up for the beta months ago and now we can’t get enough of it! Get a sneak peak of the new interface, including features, navigation, graph settings and more. Check out Part 1 and Part 2 of our Google AdWords Interface Beta review.
  • Google Analytics contains a treasure trove of information about the performance of your PPC account. But to unlock its fortune, you need to setup custom tracking functions to get a comprehensive look at your performance in Yahoo! and other search engines. Setting up custom tracking in Google Analytics is a cinch, just follow the simple steps to build custom tracking URLs.
  • There is ALWAYS something that you can be testing with ad text. In the past, PPC Hero has covered testing benefits, tone, and structure for ad text. But this month, our ad text testing was focused on the competition. Writing ads that stand out above your competitors can be difficult. You need to constantly write fresh, new, and exciting statements to stand out from competitors. Check out this post for our best practices in testing competitive ad text.
