What Did Yahoo Search Marketing Change in Their Updated Terms and Conditions?

January 6th, 2009 | Joe | Yahoo! Search Marketing

Yesterday, Yahoo Search Marketing sent out modified advertiser Terms and Conditions. We have previously discovered some surprising information when Yahoo updated their agreements, so I wanted to find out exactly what had changed.

This time around, Yahoo hasn’t made significant changes that will directly effect your search marketing campaign. Most of the changes in the new version of the Terms and Conditions are related to the dissolution of Overture Services, Inc., which Yahoo! acquired in 2003. Also, section 12 of the agreement was slightly revised due to a change to Yahoo’s international entities.

Basically, the Terms & Conditions were updated to reflect that Overture Services no longer exists, and that advertisers are working directly with Yahoo! Inc.

However, we’ll keep you posted on any additional updates and how they may effect your paid search efforts.

I am wondering if yahoo will eventually stop charging credit cards as overture as they changed the T’s and C’s. Its very confusing for my clients when they check their statements and see overture! :)

@Jon: Thanks! We’re always here to help.
@Stelios: Yes, it is confusing. I may give Yahoo a call to check into this.

  8. Hi Joe,

I was interviewed on SEO Rockstars last week on this topic – see http://tinyurl.com/9lsugx.

Also, today’s PPC Rockstars show touches on the same topic.
