Google Introduces The +1 Button To Display Ads
September 23, 2011
We’ve talked about the +1 button on PPC Hero before. We’ve told you how it allows people who like your site to “+1” your search ads, and doing so will show all their Google contacts that the person liked it. Now, Google announced, people can do the same with your Display ads!
This is important for a couple of reasons. First of all, if someone hits the +1 button for your ad, it’s probably more likely to be clicked by all of their Google contacts. Your ad becomes a trusted site their friend liked instead of just another display ad. Secondly, it allows you to see how many of your ads have had their +1 buttons clicked. You can use this data when doing ad reviews to see an ad may not be converting as well, but it could still be valuable if it’s being shown to others as recommended from their friend.
Something that is really awesome about this update is that if someone clicks the +1 button on your search results, paid Search ads, Display ads, or your website—it will show as recommended across all of these! If someone hits +1 on your website, it’ll show on your Display ads now.
Oh, and this update applies to mobile Display ads too!
